When and WhereThe 5th Alexander von Humboldt International Conference will commence with registration, the opening session and a social function on the afternoon of Sunday 11th January 2009 and the main scientific programme of the conference will run from Monday 12th January to Friday 16th January 2009. The scientific programme will take place in the Kramer Law Building on the Middle Campus of the University of Cape Town.A workshop for students will be hosted on the weekend (Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January) preceding the workshop. This workshop will conclude prior to registration and the opening session of the conference on Sunday afternoon. The scientific programme will have a “free afternoon” on Wednesday 14th January, but some conference delegates may also wish to participate in an afternoon of public debate and open discourse, led by invited experts, to be held in the Old Mutual Conference Center at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. After this debate, conference delegates will have access to walk around these famous and very beautiful botanical gardens. Technical tours and field trips circumnavigating the Cape Peninsula, and to examine coastal environments north of Cape Town, will be offered on Saturday the 17th January.
